U.S. counties with the highest property values are predominantly located along the Pacific and Atlantic coasts (and along the Great Lakes, too).
The Washington Post story includes maps that show that property in coastal cities is quite valuable. In fact, the property value of Manhattan is equal to the property value of all of Michigan.
Also, nearly half of the total property value in the U.S. comes from just five states: Florida, Texas, California, Pennsylvania, and New York.
