To help home builders maintain a competitive advantage in today’s market, they need to manage the costs associated with building their homes without reducing the consumer appeal of their product. But doing so is a balancing act that requires a strategic, holistic approach to assessing and making changes to your plan portfolio.

According to Part 1 of a three-part blog being published by architecture and design firm BSB Design, what home builders need is a performance-based mindset that make their plans not only easier to build but lowers base construction costs and achieves higher perceived value.

"The performance mindset targets three key areas: Cost vs. value, consumer demand, and measurable metrics to determine effectiveness – or ineffectiveness – of floor plans. A focus on these three areas can guide product development toward higher levels of cost efficiency and lasting marketability.

Consider using a three-tiered strategy to identify and address potential performance improvements at the plan level and across your entire portfolio.
