June Residential Construction Job Openings Rate Among Highest Since Recession

In June, the number of unfilled construction sector jobs rose to 208,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis. It’s just off the pace of March, which, at 215,000, was the highest amount of open jobs since May 2007.

NAHB analyzed the BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) and found that June’s open position rate of job openings as a percent of total employment was 3 percent, a tad lower than March’s 3.1 percent figure.

The sector’s hiring rate, though, has fallen to 4.7 percent, as measured on a twelve-month average basis.
