New Jersey Homeowners Define Home Three Years after Hurricane Sandy

Zillow Blog documents the lives of residents in Sea Bright, N.J., three years after their hometown was ravaged by Hurricane Sandy.

Most of the town’s 1,400 residents were displaced, and entire homes had to be demolished due to damages.

Many residents had to move back into a home that was much different from the one they built their memories in for decades.

“It took a lot of dinner parties and slumber parties, and cleaning up after my dog, and puzzle-and-soup Sundays before I could breathe again,” Sea Bright resident Susie Markson told Zillow. “But eventually I did, and I still do. And it smells like the ocean and just like that, I’m home.”
