Sets and set dressings in films can be visually alluring, and these eight kitchens are no different. The following movies may inspire a homeowner's kitchen design and décor choices.
The kitchen in the film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, employs modern, sleek visual appeal. "Many clients love the double wall oven that they have incorporated in this kitchen. It allows them to have two ovens going at different temperatures, and it makes a statement on the wall," designer Tracy Lynn tells Realtor.com. By contrast, the kitchen in "Practical Magic," embodies a rustic, cozy vibe. "Each nook and cranny feels intentional and 'collected,' as if they are family heirlooms that have been passed down for generations," says Lynn.
Julia Child once called her kitchen “the beating heart and social center of the household … both practical and beautiful, a working laboratory as well as a living and dining room.” “What is most memorable about this space, in addition to the color, is the creative use of storage,” says Dayna Hairston, owner and interior designer at Dayziner in New York. For instance, as you'll see above Julia's stove, “a wall-mounted peg board is a great way to add storage opportunities to vertical space.”
