These Homes Are Designed Specifically For Women

May 9, 2016

Builder and designer Kim Gordon felt the housing market was lacking in a specific category of homes; functional, smart homes designed specifically with women in mind. As such, Gordon decided to put her background as an artist to use and started demolishing, building or remodeling, and staging homes in the Westside tech market, specifically geared towards women.

As The Los Angeles Times reports, since 2010, Gordon has created seven Venice residences, each with her own unique touch. Her homes typically have open floor plans that center around the kitchen.

“For women, kitchens aren’t just kitchens anymore; they’ve become both hearths and hubs. I find myself using my laptop on the island, getting work done,” Gordon said in an interview with the LA Times.

These thoughtful touches that Gordon incorporates add up, as Pardee Properties, which brokers all of Gordon’s homes, is able to price them from 10 percent to 15 percent above the market, and they consistently manage to get every cent of that asking price.

Gordon herself has no formal architectural training or education, but that hasn’t stopped her from creating multi-million dollar homes that people can’t seem to get enough of.
