A Smarter Solution For A Smarter Home

By Owens Corning August 15, 2016

“It was only through the true partnership and the collaborative relationship we have with Owens Corning that we were able to take our product and move it to the next level," says Jason Enos, General Manager of Shea Homes, Trilogy Rio Vista

  • Location of the Job: Rio Vista, CA
  • Name of the Client: Shea Homes

Setting a New Standard

New code requirements, not to mention increased demand for comfort and energy efficiency from consumers, encouraged Shea Homes to expand their partnership with Owens Corning to ensure that their SheaXero™ homes are the most comfortable homes in the marketplace.

Through differentiating builder practices and believing that brilliance in building should not be reserved just for show homes, Owens Corning and Shea Homes collaborated to standardize the latest and greatest in scalable, sustainable build practices, making it cost effective and accessible to all homebuyers.

Building Better Homes Together

Among the many comfort and energy efficiency features of a SheaXero™ home is the Owens Corning® ProPink® insulation used from foundation to roofline. The collaboration with Shea Homes is founded in advanced building science and delivers a high level of innovation and performance previously thought unachievable. Many products were used in the Shea Homes, creating an all house solution resulting in:

  • Lowering energy bills*
  • Creating a first line of defense with allergens and pests
  • Reducing exterior noise by up to 40%**
  • A comfortable, durable structure buyers are proud to call home

Additionally, Shea Homes and Owens Corning created the Owens Corning® ProPink® High Performance Conditioned Attic System. This system seals and insulates the attic space, lowering attic temperatures and creating a buffer zone between exterior temperatures and the livable space of the home. While only available currently in climate zones 2B and 3B, the standard of living for all SheaXero™ Rio Vista homeowners has improved.

The Owens Corning® ProPink® insulation system is designed to maximize energy efficiency by air sealing and insulating the home. Through this thermal, air and moisture control, every Shea home is comfortable throughout the living space.

“Our relationship with Owens Corning stands above the rest in that we’re able to develop a product together and implement,” says Todd Cicerello, Operations Manager of Shea Homes, Trilogy Rio Vista.

**Owens Corning Test Report 90326 found that the EnergyComplete® System with blown-in wall insulation reduces perceived outside noise through the wall by up to 40% compared to closed-cell spray foam and 20% compared to open-cell spray foam.
