Students from six counties met in Chico, Calif., on Jan. 25 to explore the possibilities of a career in construction at the annual Chico Trades Day Event, KRCRTV reports. Hosted by the Construction Industry Education Foundation and the Valley Contractors Workforce Foundation, the annual event gives students the opportunity to hear from and interact directly with a variety of companies engaged in general construction, subcontracting, heavy equipment, engineering, and related trades about their work and to gain hands-on experience in the event's demonstration areas. This year's event included 24 companies and attracted almost 1,000 students.
“Whether you attend a four-year college or a community college, whatever your choice may be, if you’re looking to just get directly onto a job site and jump into a career right out of high school, this is a great opportunity to sort of vet all of those options," explained Melissa Crick, Executive Director of the Valley Contractors Workforce Foundation.
