A Maine family received a new home in Orono, thanks to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor and students in the Eastern Maine Community College's Building Construction and Fine Woodworking program. The house was constructed on the EMCC campus by students last fall before being moved to its permanent location, where it will be gifted to a local family who also lent a hand in the construction process, WCSH Maine reports.
Students began constructing the home on the EMCC campus last fall before transporting it to its permanent lot, according to Melissa Huston, executive director of Habitat for Humanity in Bangor.
"We all knew it was going to be somebody's house someday so I think we treated it like it would be our own," Erinde Barber, an EMCC student said.
