Deeply rooted in American mythology is the idea of cabins being “the ideal launchpads for remarkable lives,” writes Walter Kirn in T Magazine.
“But lately, [cabins] have become homes to aspire to, particularly for overburdened types whose acquisitive binging has made them want to purge,” he adds.
Prevalent on shareable Facebook posts, home improvement television shows, and on the glossy pages of monographs on coffee tables throughout the nation, Kirn points out the truth, though, behind America’s obsession with cabins: “you’re far more likely to spot a tiny house in a photo than on a plot of land.”
