Nearly 50 years after the first Eichler house was built, the minimalist midcentury homes are making a comeback.
Curbed looks into the gradual renaissance Eichler homes are experiencing in the bay area, where tech- and design-savvy buyers are lining up for a chance to buy an Eichler. In fact, enterprising California brokers and developers are starting to build more Eichler homes to meet the demand.
"Their design is so distinctive," says Paul Adamson, architect and author of Eichler: Modernism Builds the American Dream. "The Eichlers stand apart, so new buyers, many of whom are more design-savvy than their parents, are seeking them out."
