CNET spoke with a security researcher who showed just how simple it could be to hack into someone’s internet-connected housing devices. A website has an extensive list of devices to hack into, with no coding skills needed to wreak havoc.
Criminals could exploit weaknesses in home systems to gain personal information, or they could use their skills for much pettier reasons. For instance, they could leave a user’s coffee maker on over a long weekend.
