California homeowners can now get fined up to $500 a day for overwatering lawns and gardens. New regulations adopted by the State Water Resources Control Board also include fines for spraying water on a driveway, sidewalk or patio, and using fresh water in a water fountain unless the water recirculates. California is experiencing a multi-year drought that has greatly reduced water supplies.
