SmartAsset named the 25 best food cities in America, places where eaters can find signature local staples such as fresh fish (Seattle), gumbo (New Orleans), stuffed sandwiches (Pittsburgh), and Rocky Mountain oysters (Denver).
The list is based on seven factors, including the number of restaurants per 10,000 residents, the number of farmers’ markets per 100,000 residents, the share of employees who work in the food industry, and the price of a meal for two at a mid-tier restaurant.
While the Midwest and West Coast are well-represented, Miami earned the top spot due to its many restaurants and specialty grocery stores.

Numbeo data shows that the average meal at a mid-tier restaurant for two runs about $70. That’s one of the highest prices in the country.
