Imagine being on a camping trip and pulling out of your backpack a sheet of solar cells rolled up like a scroll to charge an electronic device.
A startup called mPower Technology is developing applications for a dense interconnected mesh of tiny solar cells that are flexible enough to be folded for transportation or incorporated into clothing. Possible uses could include a satellite with a tightly folded solar array that deploys once it reaches orbit and rooftop solar power that is lightweight and easier to install.
