According to the minutes of a recent Federal Reserve meeting, Fed officials said that raising interest rates could happen soon, assuming the economy remains in good shape.
MarketWatch reports that officials also are concerned about the upcoming stimulus package from the Trump Administration. The minutes said that officials are unsure what to do about interest rates.
Only a “couple” of the 17 Fed officials argued that uncertainty over fiscal policy should not delay a near-term rate hike. Most officials said it would take “some time” for the outlook on fiscal policy to become clearer.
The Fed voted to freeze interest rates at the last meeting on February 1. Officials will meet again in mid-March.
