Portland Seeks To Alleviate Homelessness With Tiny Houses In Backyards

Multnomah County, Ore., recently implemented a program, the Multnomah Idea Lab, where the government plans to build tiny houses in people’s backyards for free if they agree to let homeless families live there for five years. In the pilot program, the county will build four tiny houses, aiming to finish construction and move in families by the end of the summer at the latest. If the pilot is successful, the team will seek funding to expand the program across the Portland area.
