A recent poll from NAHB of young adults ages 18 to 25 across the nation found that only 3 percent of respondents were interested in a career in construction.
Of those interested, a majority of the respondents said that good pay and obtaining useful skills were the most important benefits of working in the trades.
Of the undecided young adults, 63 percent of respondents said there was no or little chance they would consider a career in the trades.
The two most common reasons are wanting a less physically-demanding job (48%) and the belief that construction work is difficult (32%).
