Agrihoods Give Buyers Serenity And Health In A Suburban Setting

August 9, 2017

People who value local food and open land but still want to be near a city have found a way to have it all.

Realtor.com reports that suburban agrihoods are gaining in popularity. Buyers are moving from cities to smaller, peaceful neighborhoods situated on or near farms.

Serenbe, a 1,400-acre housing development outside of Atlanta, has homes border a farm that grows 350 varieties of fruits and vegetables. The 4,000-acre Willowsford Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C., has a 300-acre farm where residents can volunteer to work the soil.

This lifestyle comes at a price, though.

The cheapest homes in Serenbe are one-bed, one-bath shotgun houses of roughly 900 square feet that start at $359,000. And a nearly 4,000-square-foot stunner with four beds and four baths can run up to $1,250,000. … At Willowsford Virginia, single-family homes start at $599,000 and go up past $1.3 million.
