The fastest-growing U.S. cities have moved away from the tech-driven coastal hubs and are now concentrated in the South, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Of the 15 cities that topped the list, more than half were located in southern areas where companies are hiring and unemployment relatively low. Realtor.com reports that the influx is causing the housing markets to tighten in areas that had previously avoided the rising home prices seen in other parts of the country.
San Antonio was the fastest growing city on the list, with more than 24,200 new residents between July 1, 2016 and July 1, 2017. Following San Antonio was Phoenix, Ariz., Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, and Los Angeles, Calif.
