Of the 100 largest metros in the U.S., 10 have the highest rising median salaries, drawing in residents and making the MagnifyMoney list of America's biggest "boomtowns."
McAllen, Texas is number one on the list, with median income growth of 18.4 percent between 2011 and 2016. Overall, McAllen ranked 10th, and had a workforce and earnings score of 62.2, and a final score of 55.6. Next best city on the list is Louisiana state capital Baton Rouge, with 12 percent median earnings growth during the period studied, and an overall rank of 44, CNBC reports.
MagnifyMoney analyzed how the 100 largest metro areas in the country changed over a five-year period (between 2011 and 2016) across three categories: population and housing; workforce and earnings; and business growth. Cities could earn a possible score of 100 in each category, which were then averaged together for the final ranking. You can read the full methodology here.
