The seventh annual GreenBuilt Home Tour, hosted by the Illinois Green Alliance, will take place in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs on August 3 and 4.
“The tour provides one-time only public access to Chicago’s most cutting-edge homes for anyone interested in saving money and getting design ideas using the latest innovations in building materials and technologies,” GreenBuilt said in a statement.
Many of the 18 homes on display hold third-party green certifications, such as LEED for Homes, HERS Rating, and DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes.
“The tour provides one-time public access to both completed and in-progress homes, each one designed and constructed to demonstrate a number of green-building approaches across varying architectural styles and settings,” said Brian Imus, Executive Director of the Illinois Green Alliance, the non-profit organization that organizes the home tour each year. “It’s about bringing to the life the difference green building design and construction can make for anyone interested in saving money and the planet.”
