Americans are spending lots of time, money, and energy to renovate their bathrooms, and homeowners and real-estate professionals alike say it’s worth the effort. According to a new Houzz survey, showers are the focal point, with 81 percent of respondents renovating the shower. Some 27 percent of respondents removed the bathtub altogether to make room for a bigger shower. In general, homeowners don’t want little when it comes to their bathing space; 25 percent of survey respondents increased the size. The average budget for a major remodel of a master bathroom in the Houzz survey was $21,000, while a major remodel of a smaller bathroom cost $12,300.
