The current interest rate on a 30-year fixed rate mortgage is 4.19 percent, according to data from the Federal Reserve. It’s the cheapest it’s been all year, dipping by half below the long-run average of 8.52 percent. “Thanks to historically low mortgage rates, housing may never again be as affordable as it is right now,” writes John Maxfield for The Motley Fool, an online community for investors.
