Plano, Texas is one of the best places for families to live in, as it makes the top five in four of eight categories in WalletHub’s ranking.
Residents of Plano have the highest median family salary after adjusting for cost of living while also enjoying an affordable selection of housing. Plano also has among the lowest percentage of families living below the poverty level and one of the lowest divorce rates.
On the other hand, Detroit has a long way to go before it could excel in WalletHub’s metrics. The Rustbelt city has a high divorce rate, high percentage of families living below the poverty level, high violent crime per capita, and its residents are some of the lowest earners in the nation.
But the city does rank in the top five for one category: most playgrounds per capita, where it sits at number four after Madison, Wisc., Cincinnati, Ohio, and Corpus Christi, Texas.
