The National Association of Home Builders’ optimism index rose to a 12-year high in March, and the construction of single-family houses in February increased to its highest level since 2007.
According to Fox Business, the home building company Lennar says that the home building industry has been on the upswing since last year’s U.S. presidential election. CEO Stuart Miller, said that builders and consumers are benefiting from job creation and the government’s business-friendly posture. Lennar sold more than 600 more homes during the most recent quarter compared to a year ago.
The recovery in the U.S. housing market has lifted homebuilders such as Lennar. More recently, President Trump’s calls for tax cuts and a $1 trillion infrastructure bill have injected more optimism into the real-estate industry. Since the election, shares of Lennar are up 23.9% compared to a 10.1% gain for the broader S&P 500.
