A home is an investment, and a new web dashboard lets owners monitor it as such.
The Washington Post reports that My Home, a home valuation tool from Realtor.com, monitors the value of a home, regardless of whether the owners is looking to sell. It also can be updated with current mortgage information to track payments, principal, and home equity.
Homeowners can use the site to evaluate potential savings options by refinancing based on the home equity, such as showing how much the homeowner could save on interest by switching to a 15-year loan.
Realtor.com launched the tool after realizing that homeowners today are staying in their homes much longer than in the past, which has led to growing equity.
