SmartAsset released its 2019 analysis of the best states for owning a home.
Topping the list was Idaho, due to low property taxes and real estate price per square foot, among other factors. It was followed by Utah, South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming.
None of the states on this year’s list are on either of America’s two coasts. It’s the heartland, especially the Midwest and the Great Plains, where most of the best states for homeowners are found.
