A recent survey by John Burns Real Estate Consulting revealed that many homeowners are concerned about a lack of privacy, both inside and outside of their homes.
Mikaela Sharp and Jenni Lantz from the New Home Trends Institute, a John Burns subsidiary, sit down with Pro Builder’s Executive Editor Denise Dersin to discuss the report’s findings and specific ways that builders can add extra privacy to their new homes on this week's installment of The Weekly.
“Running DesignLens and things getting denser, we really saw more issues with privacy,” says Lantz. “With homes getting closer together and having to deal with shared use easements and how windows lined up … As things are getting denser, how are consumers responding to that?”
“We also did a preliminary survey back earlier at the beginning of the pandemic to cast a really wide net and see what do we think is worth digging into a little bit deeper?” says Sharp. “We asked about privacy from your neighbors versus the sense of community, and natural light versus privacy.”
The study identified the areas of the home homeowners wish to have more privacy and the type of homeowners who want more privacy.
