A recent national survey conducted on behalf of the Hardwood Information Center reveals that the Dream Home ideal is not necessarily a huge, over-the-top home. More than half - 57% - of the 1,029 respondents to The American Dream House Survey said their dream home would be no more than 2,500 square feet, and 83.5% estimated it would cost less than $500,000 including land. When asked how their current home measures up to the dream, 35% said it was "almost there."
