Even though Providence, R.I., is relatively sunny, homeowners aren’t turning to solar power. They’re leaving money on the table.
Redfin found ten cities in the northeast where solar panels could best improve a home’s value. The findings are based on a city’s Sun Number, which indicates rooftop solar power potential, and the percentage of listings that mention “solar panels” in the description.
In Providence, for example, the median home is priced at $139,400, but the median home with solar listings has a price of $329,000.
Other untapped cities include Syracuse, N.Y., Newark, N.J., and Concord, N.H.
