Summer is officially underway, and several states are already reporting sweltering temperatures that may just be a starting point for a long and abnormally hot summer. For builders and home sellers, that could mean reduced traffic in open houses and model homes, but there may be a way to capitalize on higher-than-average temperatures to drive visitors indoors, says Housing Design Matters.
Staging a home with complimentary ice cold water and fun outdoor activities can help home shoppers make the most of an uncomfortably hot day, while window treatments, low lighting, and ceiling fans can keep temperatures down indoors and create additional airflow.
The last thing you want in a model home or open house are sweaty home shoppers. They may question the size of the ac unit and whether the builder cinched on the unit. Greet anyone who comes through your door with an ice-cold water sitting in a bucket of ice. You will instantly create a bond with your customers. Keep the thermostat on 68 degrees – even if you must wear a sweater. Maybe your buyers will want to stay a little longer in your chilly model until they cool off
