Centex's Wayne Homes Opens Atlanta-Area Design Center

In its drive to cover the country with on-your-lot operations, Centex Corp.'s Wayne Homes division has a new weapon.

In its drive to cover the country with on-your-lot operations, Centex Corp.'s Wayne Homes division has a new weapon. The firm just opened a 6,000-square-foot sales and design center, with two model homes right behind, in Cumming, Ga., just north of Atlanta.

The second such design center for Wayne, this one will sell houses destined for scattered lots within a 50-mile radius across rural and suburban north Georgia.

Wayne's first design center of this type opened a few months ago in Destin, Fla. The next is under construction in Naples, Fla.

Since acquiring Wayne Homes in 1998, Centex has expanded the on-your-lot pioneer into 26 markets in 12 states. Centex had more than $5.6 billion in 2002 housing revenue from 25,849 closings. Look for the firm to expand Wayne's operations into most of the markets where Centex builds.
